Today, I’ll embark myself in a journey. I am going back home to El Salvador. I am excited and nervous at the same time. It has been some years since I’ve been back, almost 5  years I think. I get the butterflies just thinking about it, you know that tickling inside your stomach that appears and disappears as an act of magic.

I want to see it all. I will savor it all. I wish to share it all. So stay posted I will keep you updated via The Peppy Life blog. I will be on the ground for 5 days, will that be enough? I don’t think so but it is better than nothing I guess.

In my last blog entry [link here], I posted pictures from El Salvador. I was hinting that this trip was coming up…how many of you got it?? Don’t worry, it was a subtle hint.

I don’t have anything planned, there are a few places I want to visit for sure: my hometown will be first one. I’ll have breakfast and lunch with friends, I’ll attend a concert, maybe I’ll even go to the beach…who knows? But one thing is for certain: I will be documenting it all via photography. I’ll be honor to finally take you and show you some parts of  my home country.

I am making a mental list of all the things I need to bring: coffee, honey, quesadillas (This is sweet bread not the Mexican quesadilla), maybe even some pupusas, and Pollo Campero obviously! Pollo Campero is like KFC but even more delicious and it’s very famous in El Salvador. So popular that in the airport there’s a small Pollo Campero restaurant, and almost everybody will buy some pieces to bring into the USA.  You want to know if a flight from El Salvador has already arrived in Washington or San Francisco? Check to see if the people coming out have bags that read: Pollo Campero, then you will know the airplane has landed!!

I arrived in the USA for the first time a day like today (November 22). That was 19 years ago, today I am going back. Coincidence? Who knows….but lately I’ve been having too many unexplained happy coincidences in my life.

I am not going to lie, I am a bit scared. Lately, violence has escalated in my country. But I will try to stay on the areas that are supposed to be safe. Wish me luck and stay posted!!
